Apple appoints veteran iPhone exec as head of marketing for AR
Apple has appointed its first head of product marketing for augmented actuality (AR).
According to Bloomberg, Frank Casanova moved from iPhone marketing into this new position this month. He is “accountable for all points of Product Marketing” for the corporate’s AR initiative.
Casanova is a longtime govt who has been working at Apple for 30 years. He helped the corporate to launch the primary iPhone by inking offers with telcos to advertise the handset, and to develop older merchandise such as FastTime video participant.
AR is tipped by Apple CEO Tim Cook as the subsequent huge factor for the corporate. He said that Apple is “excessive on AR for the long term”, and that “there are nice issues for prospects and an excellent business alternative”.
It is reported that Apple has a multi-disciplinary workforce to develop AR merchandise and combine the options with its different units. Bloomberg claimed in November 2016 that Apple was contemplating to broaden into digital glasses which may join wirelessly to the iPhone.
In April 2018, Apple was rumored to be engaged on a wi-fi headset which is succesful of supporting AR and VR know-how. Apple can be stated to have a workforce of over 1,000 engineers engaged on an AR challenge in Israel. Apple made a number of acquisitions within the AR house together with AR agency Metaio in 2015, AR headset startup Vrvana in 2017 and Akonia Holographics in 2018.
